Centres of Excellence

Our Memory Care Centres are designed with a home-like atmosphere to ensure residents with Alzheimer’s or dementia benefit from a familiar and comforting environment.

Recognisable features and a feeling of home help residents settle in and adapt to their new Memory Care surroundings. Our Memory Care Centres mirror the layout and freedoms of home, encouraging our residents to continue to take part in hobbies and activities that they enjoyed in their past lives.

Supporting our residents’ personal freedom & dignity

Residents’ private bedrooms are just as important as the Memory Care Centre’s communal spaces in fostering a sense of home. We encourage families to bring residents’ own furniture, pictures and decorations to help decorate the room and bring their loved one’s unique story into their new home with them. Our residents’ personal spaces need to be the place of ultimate comfort and relaxation for them.

Having such familiar spaces, both personal and communal, generates positive experiences and gives our residents higher levels of emotional wellbeing, while reducing levels of agitation, anxiety, and depression.

The goal for for each of our Mowlam Memory Care Centres is to integrate our philosophy of care, specialised dementia model, and staffing and training model into the overall physical design of the spaces that our residents live in.

Our holistic model of care affirms our support for residents’ capabilities and their personal freedom and dignity.
