Sometimes the decision to select a nursing home can be made too quickly. This can be as a result of sudden illness or change in family circumstances. If you have an elderly relative its important do some research should they require nursing home care in the future. Thus you will make the right decision.

We would recommend 3 steps to selecting the correct home

1. Research eg check what homes are in your area, speak to your GP or contact the HSE for advice and recommendations

2. Cost. Its important to understand the cost and how this will be funded by family members, savings or Government schemes

3. Visit the Homes. Its important to visit your short list of home to compare quality, care, team and facilities
